Prince Harry's speech about the dangers of artificial intelligence was interrupted this week by, fittingly, a piece of malfunctioning technology — and the moment has become one of the most talked-about clips from this year's Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New York.

The Duke of Sussex took the stage Wednesday to deliver remarks on AI and the effects of technology and social media on children at the annual gathering hosted by Bill and Hillary Clinton. More than halfway through his prepared address, the teleprompter failed. Harry paused, said "and that's it," and walked off stage, pacing briefly before setting down his microphone.

Roughly 40 minutes later, once the technical issue was resolved, Harry returned to the stage to finish his remarks, telling the audience with a laugh that "AI got into my speech" and that he'd been asked to come back out and complete it.

Harry shared the stage at this year's CGI meeting with a roster that included actor Matt Damon and chef José Andrés, part of the Clintons' annual push to spotlight philanthropic and policy initiatives around the world. Harry's own remarks focused on themes he has increasingly championed through his and Meghan Markle's foundation work — online child safety and the unchecked spread of AI tools.

The irony of an AI-focused warning derailed by a tech malfunction was not lost on the audience, several of whom captured the moment on video as it circulated widely online. Harry has not commented further on the incident beyond his on-stage joke.
