Quarterback Jared Goff was efficient behind him, completing 25 of 32 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns with no turnovers, extending his own streak to 26 consecutive games with a touchdown pass.

Jets Rally Falls Just Short

New York's comeback bid was built on a big day from Geno Smith, who completed 31 of 37 passes for 321 yards and three touchdowns without an interception, and Garrett Wilson, who caught 10 passes for 107 yards and a score before leaving the game late with an injury. But with the Jets driving for a potential go-ahead score, safety Chuck Clark sacked Smith at Detroit's 28-yard line, forcing a fumble that the Lions recovered to seal the win.

The result moves Detroit to 2-1 on the young season, while New York falls to 1-2. The Jets also came away with two notable injuries beyond Wilson's: running back Breece Hall (thigh) and left guard Dylan Parham (knee) both left the game and their status going forward wasn't immediately clear.

Detroit's win keeps it in the thick of an early NFC North race, while New York now heads into its Week 4 matchup looking to avoid a third straight loss and searching for answers on a defense that couldn't hold a two-touchdown lead in the fourth quarter.
