Victor Wembanyama turned in one of the best all-around performances of his young career Wednesday night, powering the San Antonio Spurs to a 117-111 overtime win over the Utah Jazz at Delta Center in Salt Lake City. The 22-year-old center finished with 36 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks, forcing extra time with a go-ahead push in the fourth quarter before taking over in the extra session.

Wembanyama shot 14 of 25 from the field and 4 of 10 from three, adding a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line across nearly 39 minutes, according to the full box score. San Antonio outscored Utah 12-6 in overtime to seal it after both teams traded big quarters in regulation — the Jazz actually led after one (32-22) before the Spurs clawed back behind a 34-point third quarter.

A Breakout Night for Utah's Youngsters, Too

The loss wasn't for lack of effort on Utah's end. Keyonte George poured in 31 points on 11-of-27 shooting, and rookie Ace Bailey added 19 as part of a Jazz roster still finding its footing — the loss dropped Utah to 1-5 on the season, per the CBS Sports scoreboard. San Antonio got a secondary boost from Devin Vassell (21 points) and a well-rounded effort from Stephon Castle, who finished with 14 points and 8 assists, while De'Aaron Fox was held relatively quiet with 14 points on an off shooting night.

The win pushed the Spurs to 4-2, continuing a strong start to the season built around Wembanyama, who has quickly established himself as a reigning All-Star and MVP-caliber two-way force entering his third NBA season. His 36-14-5 line with five combined steals and blocks is the kind of two-way stuffing of the stat sheet that has made him a perennial Defensive Player of the Year and MVP candidate discussion point since he arrived in the league.

Neither team has an easy stretch ahead. The Jazz will look to right the ship as one of the league's youngest rosters tries to find consistency early in a rebuilding season, while the Spurs — buoyed by Wembanyama's workload and a deep supporting cast — will aim to keep pace near the top of the Western Conference standings as the 2026-27 schedule rolls on.
