Police in Chatham County, Georgia, are asking the public for help identifying a man caught on home security video breaking into a backyard pool area, using the hot tub for hours overnight — and spending more than 10 minutes fixated on a rubber duck he found floating in it.

The footage, released by the Chatham County Police Department, shows the man trespassing on a private property on Whitefield Avenue between roughly 2:15 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on September 1, according to WTOC. He used the homeowners' pool and hot tub before what police described as an extended, apparently affectionate encounter with a rubber duck — video appears to show him kissing it.

Before leaving the property on a bicycle, the man made off with pool and beach towels police valued at around $1,200, according to WRDW.

"HE TRESPASSED ONTO THEIR PROPERTY, USED THEIR HOT TUB, BECAME OBSESSED WITH THEIR RUBBER DUCK, THEN STOLE THEIR POOL TOWELS."

The department acknowledged the incident isn't exactly a major case, noting in its own statement that "it's obviously not the biggest crime we've dealt with this month, but it has a lot of ick-factor," per WSAV. Investigators have not identified a suspect and are relying on the public to help track him down.
