Trump Staffer Britt McHenry Resigns After Viral Drink-Throwing Incident at NBA Game
The former ESPN host, who'd just been promoted to a State Department press role, is out after video showed her hurling a drink at a fellow fan during the Wizards-Bucks game.
Britt McHenry, a former ESPN reporter who had been serving as a State Department press adviser, has resigned following a viral incident at a Washington Wizards game, multiple outlets reported Friday.
Video captured McHenry throwing a drink at a fan during Wednesday's Wizards-Bucks game at Capital One Arena, then blowing a kiss toward the fan as she left the section, according to ABC News.
McHenry's camp says the confrontation started after fans seated nearby made offensive remarks about model Winnie Harlow; some witnesses told reporters the other fan threw a drink first, a claim that remains disputed. She had been promoted just days earlier to a new external-affairs role before resigning Friday. A State Department spokesperson said the agency does not comment on internal personnel matters.
