Kroy "KJ" Biermann Jr., the 15-year-old son of former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Kroy Biermann and former "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Kim Zolciak, has been charged as an adult with felony aggravated sodomy and felony aggravated sexual battery, according to arrest records reported by TMZ and multiple Fox television affiliates.

According to the arrest warrants, the alleged assault occurred on April 23 in the family changing area of a Life Time Fitness location on North Point Parkway in the Alpharetta area. Investigators allege Biermann Jr. led a 15-year-old female acquaintance into the changing room, physically restrained her and forced her to engage in sexual acts against her will, per Fox 5 Atlanta. He was arrested Monday, August 17, roughly four months after the alleged incident.

A forceful denial from his mother

Zolciak responded publicly through TMZ, calling the allegations "nothing short of reckless and deeply troubling" and saying her son "categorically denies ever being involved with this woman or engaging in the conduct she has alleged." She added that Biermann Jr. "voluntarily took a polygraph examination regarding these allegations and passed."

"NOTHING SHORT OF RECKLESS AND DEEPLY TROUBLING" — KIM ZOLCIAK, IN A STATEMENT TO TMZ

Zolciak's statement also pointed to forensic evidence she says undercuts the accusation: according to the reporting, tests conducted on the alleged victim did not reveal any male DNA. Prosecutors have not publicly addressed that claim, and it is not clear from available records how it factors into the state's case or whether the case has yet been presented to a grand jury.

The decision to charge Biermann Jr. as an adult, despite his age, reflects Georgia law, under which certain serious felony sex offenses fall outside juvenile court jurisdiction regardless of the defendant's age. That means he faces the case in the same court system — and under the same possible sentencing exposure — as an adult defendant, though his case could still be transferred depending on how proceedings unfold.

Neither Kroy Biermann nor representatives for the family have issued a separate public statement beyond Zolciak's remarks to TMZ. The identity of the alleged victim has not been released, consistent with standard practice in cases involving alleged sexual assault of a minor.

The case adds another chapter to a turbulent stretch for the Zolciak-Biermann family, who have been a fixture of reality television and tabloid coverage for over a decade. Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann finalized a contentious divorce in the past two years that included disputes over their marital home and finances. No court date for Biermann Jr.'s case has been publicly scheduled.
