Serayah is done. The actress and singer, known for playing Tiana Brown on Fox's "Empire," announced on Instagram Monday that she has called off her engagement to rapper Joey Bada$$, citing what she described as repeated infidelity throughout their relationship.

"There comes a point in a woman's life when choosing herself is no longer an option, it becomes necessary," Serayah wrote in a statement shared with her followers, according to TMZ. She said the infidelity occurred "including during some of the most vulnerable and meaningful moments" of their time together.

"LOVE SHOULD NOT REQUIRE YOU TO ABANDON YOURSELF."

The couple's relationship went public in June 2023 after Joey posted a birthday tribute to Serayah, months after downplaying dating rumors sparked by her appearance in one of his music videos. Serayah announced her pregnancy in February 2025, and the pair welcomed a son that June. The engagement followed roughly two months later, according to TheGrio.

Serayah didn't just make the accusation and walk away — she briefly posted, then deleted, additional Instagram Stories referencing recorded phone calls she said captured Joey discussing their relationship with another woman. "This person has been a literal piece of s*** to me in private," she wrote in one now-deleted post, per Bossip, which also captured additional lines from her statement, including: "Don't make yourself smaller to keep someone else comfortable. Don't compromise your values because you're afraid of losing the future you imagined."

Serayah framed the public statement less as a takedown and more as a message to other women weighing similar situations, urging them to trust their instincts rather than talk themselves out of red flags. She said she does not intend to share further details of the split, citing her son's well-being as the priority going forward: "I will always respect the fact that we have a beautiful son, and my priority will be protecting his peace, privacy and relationship with both of his parents."

Joey Bada$$, the Brooklyn rapper and actor best known for his Pro Era catalog and roles in "Two Distant Strangers" and "Static Shock," had not issued a public response as of Monday afternoon. Representatives for both stars have not commented beyond Serayah's own social media posts.
