Elbow Trouble Strikes Again: Daniels Ruled Out For London As Jefferson Also Sits
Washington confirms its franchise quarterback won't play at Tottenham as Marcus Mariota starts against the Colts, while Minnesota's Justin Jefferson is officially out against Miami — continuing injury absences for two of the league's biggest names.

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, the team confirmed in its final game-status report. Marcus Mariota will start in his place for the second time this season.
Daniels dislocated his left elbow in Washington's Week 2 loss at Dallas and already missed the Commanders' Week 3 win over Seattle. He traveled with the team to London and practiced in a limited capacity earlier in the week, but the final call was that he will not play against the Colts. ESPN's Adam Schefter has reported that Daniels is likely to need surgery on the elbow once Washington's season ends, and that he wasn't expected to be ready for this game.
Jefferson Out Again Too
In Minnesota, head coach Kevin O'Connell has ruled out star receiver Justin Jefferson (ankle) for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins, according to the Vikings' final Week 4 injury report. Jefferson has been managing the ankle issue for more than a week; O'Connell had called him day-to-day earlier in the week before the club confirmed Friday that its two-time All-Pro would sit.
The absences complicate two of the day's more closely watched games. Washington leans on Mariota again after he was named FedEx Air and Ground Player of the Week for his Week 3 performance against the Seahawks, while Minnesota's passing game will need other targets to carry the load against Miami without its top receiver.
Neither situation is being described as season-ending for this year. Washington has said Daniels is managing the elbow week to week rather than facing an immediate structural issue, and Minnesota has voiced hope that Jefferson could return as soon as Week 5 against New Orleans. For now, though, both offenses go into Sunday without their top playmaker.
