A man was arrested after allegedly breaking into a Hidden Hills property owned by Kim Kardashian over the weekend, authorities confirmed. Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies responded around 3:45 p.m. Sunday after reports of a burglary in progress at the gated estate, which is currently undergoing renovations and was unoccupied at the time.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Trey Mendel, allegedly entered through a side door and was seen loading items into a car before deputies arrived, according to ABC7. Mendel also allegedly stole a separate vehicle belonging to a staff member on the property and took it for a joyride before deputies located and arrested him.

Neither Kardashian nor her children were at the home, which she does not use as her primary residence, at the time of the break-in, according to NBC Los Angeles. Deputies found Mendel inside the residence and took him into custody without incident.

Mendel was booked into Los Angeles County jail on suspicion of burglary, and additional charges related to the alleged vehicle theft are expected to be reviewed by prosecutors, per TMZ. It's the latest in a string of security scares at properties tied to the Kardashian-Jenner family, who have repeatedly beefed up security following past break-in attempts.

A representative for Kardashian has not publicly commented on the incident. The property remains under renovation, and it's unclear whether the break-in will delay ongoing construction work at the estate.
