OnlyFans Star Sophie Rain Celebrates Her Critic's Election Wipeout
Sophie Rain says the Florida candidate who wanted a 50% 'sin tax' on OnlyFans earnings should have focused less on her and more on voters.
Sophie Rain is taking a victory lap. The top-earning OnlyFans creator is celebrating after Florida Republican gubernatorial candidate James Fishback lost badly in Tuesday's primary, finishing a distant third with roughly 10% of the vote as Rep. Byron Donalds secured the nomination.
Fishback had built part of his campaign around a proposed 50% "sin tax" on OnlyFans income, singling out Rain by name and calculating she could personally owe the state as much as $42 million under his plan. He argued the tax would discourage participation in the industry while funneling money toward schools and teacher pay.
Rain told TMZ that Fishback might have fared better if he'd spent less energy going after her and more addressing what voters actually cared about. Still, she gave him credit for one part of the pitch, saying she liked the idea of directing sin-tax revenue toward classrooms — so much so that she says she now plans to donate up to $1 million toward fulfilling Florida teachers' classroom wish lists herself.
The saga, which first went viral earlier this summer after Fishback name-checked Rain in campaign material, became one of the more unusual crossovers between adult-content stardom and state politics this cycle — and Rain made sure to have the last word.
