Less than 24 hours after delivering a 20-minute title-match performance in front of a sold-out crowd, professional wrestling star Benjamin Satterley — known to millions as PAC in AEW and as Neville in WWE — was gone. All Elite Wrestling confirmed Sunday night that Satterley had died at 40, sending shockwaves through the wrestling world just one day after his final bout.

A Sudden Loss, Hours After the Bell

Satterley wrestled AEW National Champion Andrade in the opening match of Saturday's All Out pay-per-view at NOW Arena in the Chicago suburb of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, coming up short in the title bout before making a surprise appearance later in the night during the show's main event between Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley. By Sunday, AEW had announced his death, offering condolences to "Satterley's family, friends and fans" but disclosing no cause of death, according to CNN and NBC News.

Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Satterley broke into wrestling in 2004 as a teenager and built a reputation on the British independent circuit for a high-flying style that earned him the nickname "The Man That Gravity Forgot." He signed with WWE in 2012 and, competing as Adrian Neville and later simply Neville, won the NXT Championship, two NXT Tag Team Championships and the WWE Cruiserweight Championship before departing the company in 2018. He also wrestled extensively for New Japan Pro-Wrestling and promotions across Europe and Japan.

Satterley signed with AEW in 2019, rebranding as PAC and becoming a cornerstone of the faction Death Triangle alongside Rey Fenix and Pentagon El Zero M. He captured the promotion's inaugural All-Atlantic Championship in 2022 and, earlier this year, the AEW World Trios Championship alongside Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta, cementing a nearly two-decade career recognized as among the most technically gifted in modern wrestling.

Ospreay, Satterley's longtime rival and AEW World Champion, wrote on X that Satterley was "forever our BASTARD," using the affectionate nickname fans and peers gave him. AEW referee Bryce Remsburg, along with WWE stars Rhea Ripley, Paul Heyman and Kevin Owens, posted their own remembrances, according to F4Wonline/Wrestling Observer.

No cause of death had been confirmed as of Sunday night, and neither AEW nor Satterley's family had announced memorial plans. Satterley's death is one of the most shocking in recent wrestling memory precisely because of its timing: fans who watched him wrestle a hard-hitting, near-20-minute main-card match on Saturday were mourning him by Sunday evening. He was regarded backstage as one of the most respected in-ring performers of his generation, having headlined shows on three continents across a 22-year career that touched nearly every major promotion in the sport.
