Olympic pairs figure skating champions Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara are engaged. The Japanese duo, who made history at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Games as Japan's first-ever Olympic pairs champions, announced the news on Instagram on August 23 — one day after Kihara's 34th birthday — with photos showing him proposing on the ice, according to NBC Sports.

Known in Japan by the nickname "Riku-Ryu," the pair have skated together since 2019 and retired from competition this past April after topping the Olympic podium. Their engagement was also confirmed by the official Olympics website, which noted the couple built one of skating's most decorated partnerships before stepping away from the sport together.
