Alabama Fans Hurl Bottles at Georgia Players
Crimson Tide fans pelted Georgia players with bottles and cans — and one shoved a linebacker in the helmet — after a stunning home loss.
Georgia's 20-17 upset of Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 10 — its first win there since 2007 — turned ugly after the final whistle. As Georgia players left the field, Alabama fans threw bottles and cans at them, according to Newsweek. Georgia staff told players to put their helmets back on as debris rained down.
One fan was caught on video shoving Georgia linebacker Raylen Wilson in the helmet, per BroBible. The win, decided by a late Peyton Woodring field goal, came after officials missed a disputed pass-interference call on Alabama's final drive — further inflaming the Tuscaloosa crowd.
Alabama issued a statement calling the behavior "unacceptable," saying the school is "gathering information" and that "such conduct will not be tolerated." No SEC penalty had been announced as of the statement.
