Russia launched more than 450 drones at Ukraine overnight into Sunday, one of the largest single-night barrages of the war, according to Ukrainian officials. The Ukrainian air force said 453 drones of various types — including Shahed and Gerbera attack drones, Parodiya decoys and S8000 Banderol missile-drones — were fired across the country, per Euronews' report on the attack.

Ukrainian air defense units shot down or jammed 409 of those targets — 405 drones and four Banderol missile-drones — as of 8 a.m. local time, according to Ukrainska Pravda's tally. Even with the large majority intercepted, hits from aerial weapons were recorded at 13 locations, with falling debris from downed drones causing damage at seven more.

Damage From Lviv to Izyum

The border region of Lviv, which sits along Ukraine's frontier with NATO member Poland, absorbed some of the worst damage. Multiple strikes on the city of Stryi damaged a multi-story residential building, an outbuilding near a school and structures near a railway station, according to The New Voice of Ukraine's coverage. In Izyum, a 26-year-old woman was killed when an explosive device detonated, the outlet reported.

453 DRONES LAUNCHED — 409 SHOT DOWN OR JAMMED BY MORNING

The overnight barrage was not one-sided: Euronews' reporting notes Ukrainian forces struck Russian oil refineries the same night, part of Kyiv's continuing campaign to degrade Russia's fuel-processing capacity and, by extension, the revenue that funds its war effort.

The attack came as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a weekend interview that he would be willing to travel to the G20 summit in Miami to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines — a possible diplomatic opening that stands in stark contrast to the scale of Sunday's strikes. Russian officials have not commented on the overnight attack. Ukrainian officials said assessments of the full damage and casualty count were ongoing Sunday morning.
